Makeup wipes are a thing of the past and oil cleansers are where it is at for a more efficient way to remove all the dirt and makeup off your face. Oil cleansers are way more gentle for your skin and more eco friendly than makeup wipes. when I first heard about oil cleansers I was very skeptical because I have acne-prone skin. But, oil cleansers can control the excess oil that your skin produces without irritating it.
The double cleansing method has greatly improved my skin. Double cleansing means that you first remove your makeup or sunscreen with an oil cleanser and then follow up with a water-based cleanser. Another interesting thing that you can do with an oil cleanser is oil pulling for your skin! That has been my latest discovery and oh my God, this method brings out the whiteheads and blacks head out without doing any hard extractions. This is done by massaging the oil onto the skin for 10-15 minutes. I learned this method from the Instagram account @myfacestory and I followed her routine. She recommends only to do this routine once a week or once a month due that oil pulling its a very deep cleaning method.

What oils should I buy?
I have tried my fair share of oils from different price points but one thing that I would definitely make sure its that whatever oil you buy to make sure it doesn’t have any synthetic fragrance. Another important point is to stay away from essential oils if you have very sensitive skin. They are highly concentrated essences and are capable of irritating the skin. These oils are usually citrus oils and oils that are derived from flowers such as lavender oil and rose oil. Look for extracts instead, because they are more gentle to the skin due that they are diluted contrary to pure essential oils. I know many people would ask can I use coconut oil? I personally used coconut oil before, but no matter how much I tried to wash it off my skin kept feeling oily. I later learned that coconut oil can clog your pores so after knowing that fact I can’t recommend using it like an oil-based cleanser. That’s when I discover formulated cleansing oils and the amazing double cleansing method. But, if you still want to go to the very simple natural and cheap route try olive oil, rosehip oil, or jojoba oil.
